The National Museum

Back in 2013, one of our last trips was heading from The National Museum to our friend and colleague Tim. He stayed at the Staybridge Suites here in Beirut. We had a nice afternoon at his rooftop pool and decided to spend the evening in Broumana.

We went to a mexican restaurant, had an arguile and a nice walk in the little village. Manuel was chosen to be portrait here.

I never managed it to visit the National Museum, until this year. I was surprised by the level of the design.

The museum contains many mosaics from Lebanon’s past. It is easy to recognize it’s phoenician past.

Even though there aren’t as many samples as in museum I’ve visited so far, it was a stunning tour throughout Lebanon’s past. Unfortunately, most of it’s ruins and archeological sites are destroyed by the civil war, it was impressive to see 2000 year old pieces in such a good condition.

And another of dozen beautiful mosaics. If you ever get the chance to visit Beirut, pass by the National Museum. It’s a well spend hour, which you can invest there.
