2017 – A REFLECTION

Dear friend,

2017 has come to an end.

Wow. What a year. So many changes and challenges. Such a fast pace and so many wonderful impressions. I want to thank everyone deeply who accompanied me throughout the year. I have so many memories and positive feelings about 2017 and even I want to share throughout 2018 almost 30 rolls of film that I’ve shot.

2017 was a year of constant challenges. I still struggled a bit with my hard- and software, such as a non-working scanner for analogue film, that costed me a fortune. And that is still not working. At the end of the year I was able to change my blog from WordPress.com to a selfhostet blog via WordPress.org – here now live on

www.fallingintoadream.com

A step that I’m very proud of, because I’ve had that on my mind for a couple of years, but I’ve never managed it to transfer the blog and it’s url by myself. Yet here we are.

2017 gave me the possibility to travel to different countries and islands here in Greece. I was able to see my friends in Tunisia again, I visited Italy, Jordan and Serbia, Germany and I travelled to Naxos, Poros, Crete, Rhodes, Salamina and even to Dimitsana in the South Peloponnese.

2017 was the first year, in that I travelled with hand luggage only. It is such a relief to me, to only carry my backpack and to be able to walk with free hands and enjoy these beautiful countries and not having to care for my extra luggage and sweaters and pants and shoes and multiple cameras and rechargers and batteries… etc.

2017 was also the year where I’ve challenged myself to get deeper into street photography than ever. I took part in a two days seminar with Eric Kim and it was a blast. Two days of shooting in the streets, meeting fellow street photographers and pushing myself out of the comfort zone. It was a profound experience.

The end of 2017 was far more calm, after it’s crazy first three quarters. I’ve settled down a bit at home, sold again much of my stuff, to slim myself further down and I’ve worked on some photography related projects, that will come up very soon in 2018.

In short, 2017 was a colourful and impressive year. I’m so thankful for these experiences and I hope that I will be able to share with you soon many more photographs, that I’ve taken throughout the year.

xxx

Michel
