A hazy shade of winter

… but Greece was kind enough to offer us some golden rays of warm sunlight though it was mid-December. Hence Vanessa and me took that chance on a late Sunday afternoon and drove for a quick photo-shoot to the woods in Kessariani.

I used my Hasselblad, a 100mm 3.5f lens and a roll of Agfa Portrait 220 film. The natural ambient light was used as only lightsource.

Matching the ice-cold temperatures, Vanessa chose to wear a warm outfit: poncho and fake fur.

Catch me if you can.

A Wiccan hidden in the woods?

The shooting was spontaneous, so there was no real concept behind it but the results turned out to have this 60s – 70s American-vintage feel that I really like.

My favorite photograph from this shooting.

Time, time time, see what’s become of me

While I looked around for my possibilities

I was so hard to please

But look around leaves are brown

And the sky is a hazy shade of winter

Look around leaves are brown

There’s a patch of snow on the ground

A Hazy Shade of Winter” Simon & Garfunkel, 1966

The old Rolleiflex was a perfect match to the vintage look.

Just when the sun began to set, the film was full and we headed home for cup of warm, strong coffee – always a perfect ending to a photo-shoot.
